COVENTRY TEAM TAKES SHAPE

DETAILS of the Coventry team to race at Leicester in the East Midlands Bowl on Sunday September 17 have been released...

AT LEAST two members of Coventry’s historic Treble-winning team will line up in the East Midlands Bowl trip to Leicester on Sunday September 17 (2pm).

Captain Scott Nicholls and Rory Schlein were both integral members of the greatest-ever Bees team with the tenth anniversary of their remarkable success rapidly approaching.

October 2007 saw the Bees get the better of Swindon to win the Elite League title before defeating the Robins and Poole in the Craven Shield Final – and the Bees then mounted an incredible recovery at Brandon to again beat Swindon in the KO Cup Final and complete the clean sweep.

Nichollls rode for the club in six seasons over three different spells, whilst Schlein was a Coventry rider from 2005-10. Both won two league titles with the club.

Also confirmed for the Beaumont Park clash is Kyle Howarth, a member of Coventry’s play-off qualifying line-ups of 2014-15, and a rider currently in a rich vein of form with Wolverhampton and Sheffield.

The remainder of the top five is to be confirmed due to late re-arrangements of various SGB Championship fixtures with the cut-off for play-off qualification at that level being September 18.

At reserve, Coventry will be represented by Adam Roynon – a club asset since way back in 2004, and a regular member of Bees squads in recent years.

Roynon will be joined by British youngster Joe Jacobs, who was a strong No.1 for Coventry Storm in 2013 and made major progress in the top flight with Belle Vue last year before disappointingly finding himself without a team place for much of the current campaign.

News of the final two riders to complete the team will follow as soon as the Championship fixture list for September 17 is finalised.
